Nonetheless, here are some startling observations that may serve as food for thought when eating your favorite fish dish.

  • Prove beneficial to rheumatoid arthritis. Fish oil is thought to lower joint swelling, ease morning stiffness and lessen fatigue in people.

  • Help block breast cancer, since the omega-3 fatty acid in fish boosts the immune system's ability to respond to developing tumors.

Besides the above health benefits, eating fish may also provide one with vitamins and minerals essential for health. These include Vitamin A and D. vitamins in B group like nicotinic acid; and Vitamin C (which is largely lost in cooking) are also present in fish. Likewise, iodine, phosphorus, calcium and copper are found in fish and other seafood.
