It's summer once again and it's time for summer
outings and picnics. Here are some useful picnic tips for that fun family
Make sure you have a box of clean-up stuff for your picnic. Plastic bags, ties, paper towels, aluminum foil, plastic containers, wash cloth and sponge will come in handy.
To remove juice or cola odor from your cooler, simply place a can of charcoal inside. Close the cover and let it stay overnight. In the morning, wash with soap and warm water then rinse before using.
Use old hand towels instead of paper napkins. They are much easier to wash and won't be blown by the wind.
If you plan to cook on your grill, make sure to clean it well. Give it an overnight soak in a heavy duty garbage bag with a mixture of detergent and water. Scrub it off the next day then rinse well.
If flames flare up while you cook, make sure to have a squirt bottle ready or a wet turkey
A clean plastic shower curtain is a very good double for tablecloth. Its easy to clean and fast to pack.
Water is essential for
keeping food fresh. Vegetables for one can be made to last longer if
continuously kept wet by drizzling water over them. Adding vinegar, lemon
juice or lime juice to cold water is also helpful in keeping fruits and
vegetables from discoloring. How do you make acidulated water? Just add the
latter ingredients, about 1 tablespoon of vinegar, lime orange or lemon
juice (your choice) to a quart of water.
