Lunch-outs can burn a hole in your pocket and ruin your waistline. The solution: Bag your lunch! Here are a few tips for frugal, healthy and tasty packed lunches.

Pasta Perfect.
Good pasta dishes in fancy diners cost so much. Here's an alternative... for lunch the next day, toss leftover pasta, seafood or lean meat, spinach or broccoli, cottage cheese, herbs and olive oil, then refrigerate using sturdy and reliable microwavable container. Bring your pasta dish to the office, reheat and enjoy.

Salad Days.
Scan a restaurant menu and you will see that salads cost just a tad less then pricey entrees. What you can do, depending on the flavor that you want, is to throw together cut-up romaine lettuce, cheese, vegetables like onions and cucumber, fruits such as orange, avocado or tomatoes and place them in a plastic. The container must be sealed tightly to keep fruits and vegetables fresh. Pack the dressing separately - vinaigrette or low-fat yogurt - so your salad remains crisp not soggy.

Healthy Alternatives.
When you deprive yourself of your favorite fastfood meals, sooner or later, you will go back running to your favorite greasy pizza or fatty burger. What you should do is to prepare healthier versions of your favorite fastfood treats; prepare lean burger with vegetable extenders, use pita or whole wheat bread, put low-fat dressing and stuff it with healthy garnishes. Sandwiches keep fresh and flavorful when placed in zipper sandwich bags. Or you can make your own pizza bagel; create pizza sauce using eggplant and spaghetti meat sauce then sprinkle cheese on top. Place in aluminum foil; reheat when it's time to be enjoyed.

Other Tips.
Here are some hints for healthy lunching. Along with your rice meal, pack a dessert of orange or melon wedges, medium-sized banana or apple, or sliced mangoes or papaya and put them in a cling wrap or zipper storage bag to keep them fresh. Also try to wean yourself from sugar-packed cola drinks - have fruit juice instead and drink water throughout the day. Another way to get liquids into your body is to bring soup in a tightly sealed. Cook leftover vegetables in a broth, microwave in the office at lunchtime, and enjoy with your rice dish or sandwich.

It takes imagination, determination and a little time to stay within your lunch budget and healthy diet!
