Beef Spareribs Oriental



4 big pcs. spareribs (about 2 kls.)
¼ cup corn oil
½ cup spring onions or leeks, chopped
1 tbsp. chili garlic sauce
¼ cup brown sugar
1 (250 gms.) pack tomato sauce
½ cup soy sauce
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsps. chinese rice wine (available at supermarkets)
1-½ cups water
¼ cup cornstarch dispersed in ¼ cup water
1 tbsp. sesame oil
1 tbsp. sesame seeds

For garnish:
¼ cup canola/corn oil
¼ k. tagalog pechay, washed
¼ cup spring onions or leeks, chopped


Step 1

Over a stove, set a 6 to 8-quart pressure cooker.

Step 2

Add oil, when hot, add beef to brown then add the rest of the ingredients except cornstarch, sesame oil and sesame seed. Pressure cook of an hour.

Step 3

Cool well before opening pressure cooker. Thicken with cornstarch and add sesame oil.

Step 4

Arrange beef on plate with vegetable garnish. Serve with white rice, top with sesame seeds.

Step 5

To prepare vegetable garnish: Stir-fry pechay and leeks for a minute.
