Fish with Tausi



1 thumb-size knob of ginger, sliced
2 tbsps. Water
500 gms. White fish fillet
salt & pepper to taste
oil for frying
1 square of tofu, cubed
1 tbsp. spring onions, sliced into 1″-lengths
1 tbsp. ginger, slice into strips
4 tbsps. tausi (black beans)
2 cups water
2 tbsps. cornstarch, dissolved in water
3 onions, cut into wedges
3 tomatoes, cut into wedges
dash of sesame oil


Step 1

Crush the ginger and add water.

Step 2

Soak the fish fillets in ginger juice for a few minutes.

Step 3

Wash and season with salt and pepper.

Step 4

Roll in cornstarch and fry until light brown.

Step 5

Fry tofu and set aside.

Step 6

In a pan, saute spring onions and ginger.

Step 7

Add the tausi and water.

Step 8

thicken with cornstarch; stir vigorously.

Step 9

Place the lapu-lapu fillets, onions and tomatoes into the pan. Allow to boil once.

Step 10

Drizzle with sesame oil and serve.
