Monterey Beef Ball Siomai



For the filling:

½ k. Monterey ground beef
1 (250 gms.) Purefoods sliced sweet ham, chopped
½ cup violet onions, chopped
½ cup carrots, chopped
½ cup spring onions, chopped
½ cup dried shrimps (hibe, well-washed & soaked in water for 15 minutes), chopped
1 tsp. rock salt
tsp. black pepper
1 pc. egg
2 tbsps. sugar
2 tbsps. sesame oil
¼ cup cornstarch
50 pcs. quail eggs
2 cups cornstarch


Step 1

Boil the quail eggs in a pan with enough water to cover for 7 minutes. Throw out water and replace with tap water. Peel. Put the 2 cups cornstarch on a tray.

Step 2

In a bowl, mix all ingredients for filling. Dip small ice cream scooper in water. Scoop out 50 balls of meat mixture and place on tray.

Step 3

Put one quail egg in the center of ground beef. With hands, form into balls until egg is well-enclosed with meat mixture and you have completed all 50. Roll in cornstarch, then place on sesame-oil greased glass plates.

Step 4

Steam over high heat for 15 minutes. Serve with sweet chili sauce or soy sauce.
